The fire instructor will plan, prepare, deliver and evaluate lesson plans in the fire field including FF I & II classes.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duty and Responsibility:

1. Conducting assigned classes to enhance student learning in accordance with college policies and procedures, 2. Presenting information, ideas, and skills in ways appropriate to a variety of learning styles with sensitivities to a diverse student population, 3. Providing students with the approved course syllabus and adhering to the syllabus in course content and evaluation of student performance, 4. Supporting and utilizing advancing technology, 5. Engaging students in discussions and facilitating collaborative learning where appropriate, 6. Responding promptly, tactfully and effectively to student questions and concerns, 7. Maintaining adherence to the college’s grievance procedure, 8. Explaining course objectives and criteria for evaluation, and lab procedures, where appropriate, to students at the beginning of each course, 9. Evaluating and providing feedback on student performance in an objective, regular, consistent, and timely manner, 10. Maintaining to scheduled class hours as stated in the course syllabus for the full amount of time, 11. Maintaining and promptly submitting accurate class records and management reports, 12. Being accessible to students before and after class or by telephone or email to answer questions and assist with course-related problems, 13. Scheduling ample time for student evaluation of instruction, 14. Facilitating a positive, professional, and nurturing academic environment, 15. Keeping up-to-date in the specific content areas of instruction through professional development activities and applying this information in the classroom, 16. Following the appropriate chain of supervision, 17. Being aware of and contributing to the culture of the college community, 18. Maintaining a positive and professional climate among faculty and staff.
